AV Commissioning Engineer Cincinnati, OH

The primary role of the AV Commissioning Engineer is setting up and commissioning audio-visual equipment for enterprise customers. The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading, supporting, and interacting with all technicians, field engineers, programmers, and customers.


  • Analyze and interpret system drawings
  • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation
  • Perform hardware upgrades to all AV components
  • Registration and setting changes of VTC codec endpoints (Cisco, Polycom)
  • Proficient with Crestron, AMX, Extron, Biamp, and QSC hardware components
  • Proficient with Crestron Toolbox, Biamp Tesira, Q-SYS, and Shure software
  • Write, configure, and adjust digital signal processors (DSP) including Biamp and QSC
  • Fine tune audio-video systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Ability to work with a remote system programmer to load and diagnose interfaces
  • Extensive background in troubleshooting specific audio, video, and network related issues
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals such as: TCP/IP, addressing, firewalls, routers, VLANs, and VPN
  • Create, track, and close a project punch-list
  • Act as a customer liaison in absence of Project Manager
  • Demonstrate job site leadership with all subcontractors, technicians, engineers, and programmers
  • Comfortable and able to communicate with C-Level executives
  • Ability to train and educate customers on installed equipment and receive a final sign off from the customer showing job completion
  • Compile and submit all project related deliverables including redlining CAD documents
  • Ability to remotely troubleshoot end customer AV issues
  • Ability to lead, perform, and direct installation of audio-visual equipment
  • Cable management above ceilings, under tables, and within racks
  • Pull and terminate various types of cabling connections (CAT6, Crestron DM, Cresnet, RS232, Speaker wire, mic wire, XLR connectors, phoenix connectors, soldering, etc.)

  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Understanding of network infrastructure and A/V system design requirements
  • Understanding of Audio/Visual project lifecycle from solicitation to final inspection
  • Familiar with current version of BICSI and AVIXA best practices
  • Certifications: CTS-I, DMC-E-4K, DMC-D-4K, Extron AVA, AMX-ACE, Biamp TesiraFORTEĀ“, Q-SYS – Preferred


  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including climbing, sitting, standing, walking and driving
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated
  • When working on site, will be required to wear common protective of safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
  • Certified Technology Specialist Installation (CTS-I) preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in collaboration or Audio-Visual Integration
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
